Uni-Recycle

Short description

Our goal is to develop a mobile app that will ensure recycling at the univeristy by giving the chance to the users to win awesome prizes.

Long description

The goal of our project is to ensure that everybody in the university environment recycles everything they consume. Our proposal is to develop a mobile application that will register and ensure recycling at the university. To do so, we want to develop a mobile application that will reward the user for recycling correctly. All standard bins at the university will be replaced by recycling ones that will contain a qr code. When the user wants to throw something at the bin, he will be able to scan the code of the bin through the application and determine what is being thrown by inserting its barcode if possible and a picture of it, to ensure the correct use of the application. The user will then get rewarded points that will be able to exchange for some benefits, such as getting more odds with each point to win a raffle, as an example. These benefits could be discussed to fit each faculty. So that the system is not exploited, there will be a limit of products that each account will be able to throw every day. Also, the ideal would be to link the identity of students and teachers to the account, by using personal documentation or the university online user.

Scope of the project

It would be ideal to start the project in a specific campus and then spread it to the whole university.

Budget

The budget would be around 3000€ for the app (that could be reduced if any student wants to make it as his degree final project) and the cost to replace the bins of each faculty.
