If a standard single office in the School of Physics upgraded the lighting from fluorescent to LED, it would have the potential to save 51 Kg’s of CO2 emissions per year.

Think about it! if 100 similar offices are upgraded to LED lighting today, CO2 emissions would be reduced by 5.1 tons annually and saving €6400 per annum on the universities…

LEDs use dramatically fewer watts than traditional bulbs to produce bright light, which means they also last much, much longer. Most LEDs last a minimum 25,000 hours meaning if you were to keep your LED bulb on all day every day it would be about 15 years before you’d have to replace the bulb.
